Why doesn't Alec Baldwin go count his money in his penthouse, and leave working people alone?! What the hell does he know about horses, anyway? Another limousine liberal telling people how to live. SHUT UP!

The desperate carriage industry is once again resorting to lies about the reality of this industry. No one – that includes PETA, Alec Baldwin, the Coalition to Ban Horse Drawn Carriages and all the many organizations and advocates involved with this issue want these horses to be euthanized. We want to save them. The reality is that because there is such a huge turnover of horses in the industry – there is no place for them to go now but to the auctions and therefore slaughter. But it is the owners who take them there - not Peta and not Alec Baldwin. When this ban goes through – and it will – our plan is to put these long suffering horses in sanctuaries or good adoptions. Please get your facts straight before you spread lies.

Understandably, what Alec was referring to was the fact that if the horses were euthanized, they would not be treated cruelly, being forced by their exploiters to labor very harsh conditions in dangerous traffic (resulting in numerous horses being killed and injured in just the past few years alone).

It has been documented that carriage horses in New York City are forced to work in extreme heat and cold conditions that no sane and caring horse lover would force or even expose a horse to. Drinking water has also been discovered through investigation to be not adequately provided to these same horses.

It's no surprise that a compassionate fella like Alec might hint that a peaceful death is better than suffering and constant exploitation...who wouldn't agree except for those who are attempting to justify the harsh exploitation?

CORRECTION

The name "baldwin bag" did not orginate with the Horse & Carriage Association of New York. I invented the term and submitted it to the Urban Dictionary on June 28th and highlighted it in my blog (www.larryswire.blogspot.com) on June 29th. It was read by McHaleen Flynn of the New York Association, who sent me a thank you email on June 30th. I told her of my plans to publicize the name and asked her to help. She sent me an email on July 3rd telling me that the Association PR woman had carried it to the media -- with links to the reports. Every one of them improperly credited the Association with coining the term. Please provide correction. Is you need to see copies of the emails, I can provide them.
